Our Founders

It all began more than a decade ago, when Eberhard first travelled to Myanmar to treat ENT (ear, nose, and throat) patients and teach ear surgery. Over the years, these annual visits not only provided medical care and training but also fostered lasting friendships.

In 2021, the military coup in Myanmar brought these trips to an abrupt halt. Determined to continue supporting colleagues, Eberhard and Marlene founded Carematters. What began as online meetings to discuss ENT cases soon grew into an international initiative—within six months, physicians from other conflict-affected countries had also joined the discussions.
